ROADTRIPPING TO TARBERT WITH POLLY THE PEUGEOT

I spent the morning jumping around puddles and avoiding crazy morning Glasgow traffic after being too stubborn to take a taxi and instead walked the 30+ minutes to Europcar in the pouring rain. I have been so nervous and excited about taking a road trip through Scotland, a road trip is one of my most favourite things to do, but I have never ever driven outside of Australia before. I picked up the keys and found a Peugeot that matched the key number plate. Why hello!! It’s so fancy! I sat in the car with the engine on for a few minutes trying to find the hand brake, which DOESN’T EXIST because everything in this car is automatic. The lights come on by themselves, and the side mirrors move in when the car is turned off. I did get verbally angry with it a number of times when it was warning me about deactivating the automatic window wipers. Polly the Peugeot, let’s get something straight, I don’t like giving up control, so I will use the wipers when I want to use them. Let me live my life!

I had to drive through the centre of Glasgow before finally getting onto a highway and heading 2 1/2 hours to Loch Fyne. This trip was incredible and completely distracting. There is so much to look at during a Scotland roadtrip, driving around lochs and through mountains and green rolling hills and past glens and valleys and all things beautiful. The trip ended up taking FOUR hours because I kept pulling over to take photos and enjoy how beautiful this country is. I nearly crashed the car driving over a bridge, as out to my right, a huge beautiful glorious incredible magnificent majestic castle (it’s too majestic to use commas) appeared and I had to swerve off the road and contain myself. I drove up to the castle, but decided I needed to get to the castle I will be calling home for the night (Stonefield Castle for those playing at home). I cannot wait to explore it tomorrow.

This is the exact bridge that I nearly crashed my car. Look at that castle! There needs to be some SERIOUS warning signs before approaching said bridge!
