A night at Culloden House

I cannot say enough good things about Culloden House. First of all, it's absolutely beautiful (I mean, just LOOK AT IT!!) Secondly, the staff were the most accommodating, funny and lovely people you could ever hope to stay with. We had driven up from Edinburgh via Aberdeen (well, via Dunnotar Castle which is close enough) so had been on the road for nearly 12 hours. We hadn't planned the details of this road trip, so were shocked when our GPS informed us that it would take 4 hours of solid driving from Dunnotar to Culloden. We were already so knackered by then so you can imagine our excitement and relief to drive up to Culloden House. We were shown to our room, and although we had booked a twin room, they had actually given us a double. Now we both hate sharing, and so were quick to tell the porter about the mistake. As they didn't have any twin rooms left, they offered us two rooms and apologised profusely about having to split us up! Bless them. Honestly, Ro and I couldn't have been happier, we are mates but boy do we love our own spaces! So I got put up in a fancy ass suite. They again apologised as they told us we wouldn't be able to join them in the restaurant, as we were both covered in filthy clothes from sliding around the mud in Dunnotar Castle, and didn't own attire appropriate enough for the stately dining room. So they offered us dirty plebs room service instead. After the best night's sleep in the world's most ginormous bed, we wandered up to the secret garden (YES they really do have one!) and wished we could have spent more time here. Here's to next time!
